Wise Old Owl Mug

From coffee to tea to cocoa, you’ll be drinking smart from this adorable owl mug. Add colorful plumage and a bold background and watch your creativity take flight. 

    Wipe mug with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.

    Using No. 6 Round brush, paint ears, scallop area around eyes and wings with three coats Bright Ginger. 

    Brush one coat Bright Ginger, slightly diluted, on top edge of head and lower  “v” section leaving areas white.

    Brush two coats of Light Ginger on the scalloped front area of body. Let dry.

    Brush a coat of Bright Ginger on bottom part of each scallop brushing up and blending into the Light Ginger.

    Using Liner brush, paint inner ear with Dark Ginger and extend fine line to accentuate the “v” above the eyes.

    Make fine line with Dark Ginger under each scalloped feather indentation on body.

    Brush 2-3 coats Neon Yellow in eye around pupil and toes. Let dry.

    Brush two coats Black to pupils, around eyes and beak. Use Liner brush to make small strokes of diluted Black to owl’s head to simulate feathers and repeat with larger strokes for spots above each feather on chest.

    Paint claws and nails in Black. Let dry.

    Make small white dot in black pupil of eye with French Dimensions for highlight.

    With pencil, lightly make approximately 1” lines down handle of mug.

    Brush three coats Neon Blue to every other section on handle.

    Brush three coats Neon Blue around owl and remainder of cup. Leave inside unpainted. Let dry.

    Place on kiln shelf and fire to cone 06.

    Pour some Pure Brilliance to inside mug. Swirl around to coat sides and pour out remainder into a clean container.

    Brush a coat of Pure Brilliance on white sections of handle. Let dry.

    Brush a light coat of Pure Brilliance over entire cup including bottom. Let dry.

    Stilt on kiln shelf and fire to cone 06.
